Education and Campus Engagement
OVERVIEW
At Duke, every classroom, workplace, and campus experience offers a meaningful opportunity to champion climate and sustainability fluency. Our commitment is to empower faculty, students and staff to leverage their unique expertise and perspectives to advance the educational goals of the Duke Climate Commitment.
We offer tailored pathways to nurture skills and knowledge, support experiential teaching and learning, and foster lifelong stewardship at Duke and beyond. Join us through campus-based climate and sustainability projects, course collaborations, student leadership opportunities, and special events.
Through campus-wide partnerships, we learn, teach, and take action together—shaping a future that is safer and brighter for all.
OCS Education Staff
Need to get in contact with a team member? Led by OCS Director Lindsay Batchelor, both Emily Bilcik and Sophia Masciarelli are the primary OCS points of contact for climate and sustainability education and engagement.
Connect with Sophia for Green Devil Internships, Sustainability Ambassadors, collaboration with student organizations and campus departments, partnership on events, and Green Certification program support.
Connect with Emily with questions about course projects, independent studies, and special projects that address real-world climate and sustainability challenges on Duke’s campus, the Climate and Sustainability Teaching (CAST) Fellows Program, the Applied Learning Project Library, SCALe Spotlights, the Campus Needs List, and pilot fluency work in Duke’s schools.
