Sustainability Engagement Coordinator
As the Sustainability Engagement Coordinator for Duke’s Office of Climate and Sustainability, Sophia supports campus sustainability efforts in three key areas: program development and management, outreach and stakeholder engagement, and communications. She leads student sustainability programs, including the Green Devil Interns, Sustainability Ambassadors, and Project Earth New Student Orientation, while also managing sustainability certification programs and developing new student and staff focused initiatives. She serves as the primary liaison for students and organizations seeking collaboration on campus sustainability efforts, expanding outreach beyond traditional environmental groups. Additionally, Sophia supports the implementation of the office’s communications strategy and strategic communication campaigns for major events like Campus Sustainability Month and Earth Month. She joined the team in 2022 after graduating from Wake Forest University, where she studied Environment and Sustainability Studies with minors in Politics and International Affairs and Anthropology.
