Staff, faculty and students gathered March 25 for a Duke Climate Commitment Town Hall to help shape Duke’s Sustainable Operations Roadmap, offering input on priorities spanning food, water, waste, transportation, buildings, procurement and natural resources. The session, hosted by the Office of Climate and Sustainability, focused on gathering Duke community perspectives.

Duke’s comprehensive sustainable operations master plan will include both carbon emission reduction and the non-carbon aspects: including sustainable operations for buildings, food, transportation, procurement, waste, water and natural resources. The March 25 town hall focused on campus input around these non-carbon aspects.

The Sustainable Operations Roadmap will cover topics that have wide-reaching impact beyond emissions. These strategies shape how Duke operates every day, and they are better, stronger decisions when they reflect a wide range of perspectives from students, faculty, and staff.

During the town hall, participants engaged in discussions and interactive exercises, including an interactive gallery walk, to share feedback on draft priorities and identify areas of opportunity, momentum and concern.
