We grow and sell a wide variety of seasonal produce at DCF. The majority of our academic-year yield ends up in the Marketplace and West Union dining facilities. Our farm staff works closely with campus chefs to grow salad mixes, leafy greens and root vegetables for regular consumption on the salad bar and across various food stations. We also grow specialty items for events, such as orange watermelon for Duke’s First Year Orientation Picnic and sweet potatoes for Thanksgiving Dinner at the Marketplace.
During the summer, we manage a Community-Supported Agriculture program. Our 2017 membership included 60 households who shared in summer’s bright bounty. CSA members receive a weekly mix of the season’s best produce. Learn more here about why you might enjoy becoming a member.
