Check out all of the amazing ways to participate in climate and sustainability through signature events offered by OCS.

Signature Events

Recurring pop-up events aimed at shifting campus culture towards circularity and mindful consumption. Our circularity team works to collect donations for clothing and dorm/home items from the campus community and hosts pop-up events where students can “shop” these items for free. The team is always looking for new opportunities to collaborate whether you are a part of another student organization, residential life staff, or simply an interested community member – feel welcome to reach out and get involved. Follow us on Instagram to stay up to date on pop-up events.

Earth Month and Campus Sustainability Month represent times to celebrate and acknowledge the grass-roots action driven around campus and in our community throughout the year. The Office of Climate and Sustainability works to highlight and amplify events from across Duke and Durham. Whether you have spent the year engaging with us, or are looking for a new community or pathway to get involved, we invite you to join us in this month of action and celebration.

This series brings together students working on climate and sustainability internships, course-projects, and other campus-based C&S projects from across the Office of Climate and Sustainability to present their work during an Earth Month Climate & Sustainability Campus Impact Showcase. This is an opportunity for students and programs to highlight their hands on, experiential, real world work in the climate space. The vision is to inspire cross-pollination across these programs as well as build community across the climate and sustainability space.

OCS frequently partners with Duke Landscape Services to host tree planting and tree education efforts on campus. These educational activities contribute to Duke’s Tree Campus Higher Education designation. Learn more about Duke’s legacy as a nationally recognized arboretum and stay tuned for annual tree events.

Town Hall events are an opportunity for students, staff, and faculty to hear updates from Office of Climate and Sustainability and Climate Commitment leadership, to ask questions, and to share new ideas.

Each year, students, staff, and faculty from around campus are recognized for their leadership in climate and sustainability. The awards honor those who champion and support Duke‘s Climate Commitment and who embody the vision of the Climate Commitment.
