I am a Junior from New Delhi, India. I am Majoring in Economics with a certificate in Sustainability Engagement and a minor in Environmental Science and Policy. I believe Energy, Entrepreneurship and Innovation are the 3 most important things to combat climate change and work towards global development of  a human centric future.

Anna Balas

Anna Balas is a Duke junior from Michigan studying Environmental Science and Policy and Spanish in addition to the Sustainability Certificate. She has spent the past two summers working on environmental projects and learning Spanish in Costa Rica, and she would like to join the Peace Corps after graduation. Anna’s certificate focus is on Campus Sustainability, and she has loved spending time with working with the Sustainable Duke office on campus!

Schuyler DeBree

Schuyler DeBree is pursuing an Environmental Science and Policy Major, a Visual Arts minor, and the Sustainability Certificate, while on the Duke Women’s Soccer team. Her love for the natural world was founded on building forts in the woods with her brother in New Jersey. She has studied environmental science and is committed to building appreciation for and protecting nature. Schuyler is focused on non-traditional solutions to environmental challenges, such as art, entrepreneurship, and sustainable product design. She is currently conducting research on the sustainability of the Kenyan Black Tea Industry, with the intention of graduating with distinction from the Nicholas School of the Environment.

Andrea Kolarova

Andrea Kolarova is from Asheville, North Carolina. She grew up backpacking, biking, and loving the mountains she lived in. She is a sophomore planning on double-majoring in Environmental Science and Policy and Biology. On campus, she is involved with various student organizations including the Environmental Alliance, Alpha Phi Omega, and PWild. Andrea is the current House Manager and resident of the Duke SmartHome. She also conducts biodiversity research under Professor Stuart Pimm. Outside of class, she loves cycling, rock climbing, and listening to audiobooks in German. Her interest in the Sustainability Engagement Certificate stems from her love of life and the wonders of nature.

Jamie Lockwood

Jamie is the youngest of three and grew up in the suburbs of Richmond, VA. While her true passion is conservation, she also plays for the Varsity Duke Women's lacrosse team. Jamie is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in environmental science and policy, and her thematic emphasis is on ecotourism. During the summer of 2017 Jamie further her certificate with an independent DukeEngage program to Vietnam, where she worked at a rescue and rehabilitation center for pangolins.

Sara is a senior majoring in Environmental Science who has an interest in sustainable agriculture and food justice. She currently works as an employee at Duke Campus Farm and on the dining team for Duke Green Devils. She is excited to continue learning about food systems through the Sustainability Engagement Certificate.
