Duke Hospital Sustainability Options

Duke University Hospital is one of the nation’s leading care and research centers. Prioritizing patient experience with innovative and comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic facilities, Duke Hospital (DH) provides a regional emergency/trauma center, over 51 operating rooms, an endo-surgery center, and extensive diagnostic and interventional radiology areas. With nearly 1,000 patient beds, the hospital functions like a self-sufficient city focused on saving lives.

This project focused on answering the following questions:

• What can Duke learn from peer experiences to begin implementing sustainability while maintaining the current level of patient care?
