Becca Ward Was Caught Green-Handed!
Becca was the first winner of the weekly Get Caught Green Handed contest. She was caught filling up a reusable water bottle, rather than wasting plastic, water and money by purchasing a disposable bottle. Becca received a stainless steel water bottle and a "Bleed Blue. Live Green." t-shirt. Will you get caught next?

Do you feel environmentally conscious? Why?
I am environmentally conscious. I grew up in Portland, Oregon which is a very green city. There's an environmental ethos [there] that motivates everyone to do what they can to reduce their impact on the planet. At Duke, it is sad to see students drinking bottled water or using to-go containers when its perfectly easy to go without. I always have my water bottle with me and tend to carry around a reusable coffee mug too. I try to reduce my impact through little changes like this. As students become more aware the environmental issues facing our planet, I hope more of them will make these types of choices in future.
Get Caught Green Handed is an initiative of Students for Sustainable Living created to reward sustainability actions at Duke. Get caught doing something eco-friendly, and receive great prizes including t-shirts, stainless steel water bottles and reusable grocery bags! It's simple, just take actions throughout the day to reduce your environmental footprint and with a little luck, you could be caught GREEN HANDED! The contest will continue on a weekly basis throughout the spring semester.
